Evernote: Software made in Chile

Evernote is a company based out of Redwood City (Silicon Valley).  Founded in 2008, it offers a digital tool aimed at improving productivity, which allows its more than 200 million users worldwide to capture, store and synchronize text, image and video files across multiple devices.

The company has offices in three cities outside the United in States: New Delhi, Tokyo and Santiago.

This U.S. company chose Chile for its first software development center outside the United States, which opened in 2019 with an initial investment of approximately US$ 2 million.  It has been supported along the way by InvestChile, who has worked with Evernote since 2018 when it began to prospect the possibility of setting up in Chile.

The development center kicked off with 10 employees and today has over 30, most of whom are software engineers with a command of programming languages: Java, JavaScript, Node.JS, React, Redux, among others.  Chile’s offer of digital talent was one of the main reasons why Evernote finally decided to open in Chile.

“Our aim is for the office in Chile to become the second largest Evernote software development center in the world, an office where only engineers and developers work.  This is a highly valued office for our company and contributes to the core of our global business,” explained Evernote CEO, Ian Small.
