The Ministry of Economy, Economic Development and Tourism has announced that Her Excellency President Michelle Bachelet has appointed Carlos Álvarez Voullième as Director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency. Álvarez was one of the names put forward for the post by the Civil Service through its Selection Board System. He was previously President of the Council of the System of State Companies (SEP).
Résumé
Carlos Álvarez Voullième holds an undergraduate degree in Industrial Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Chile and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
His professional experience includes his appointment in 2004 as Undersecretary of Economy, a position he held until 2006 when he was appointed as Executive Vice-President of the Chilean government’s Economic Development Agency (CORFO). In 2010, he was selected as Deputy Director of the OECD Development Centre in Paris, France.
Until his appointment as Director of InvestChile in July 2016, Álvarez served as President of the Governing Council of the Committee of Chile’s System of State Companies (SEP).
