Carlos Álvarez briefed AmCham, Camacoes and BritCham on the institution’s plans

The director of InvestChile, Carlos Álvarez, met this week with representatives of the USSpanish and British chambers of commerce. The aim of each meeting was to draw attention to the agency’s main plans as well as to learn about the concerns of some of the countries that lead investment flows into Chile.

On Tuesday, Álvarez took part in the roundtable “New Institutional Framework and Promotion Strategy for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)”, organized by the Chilean-North American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), led by the organization’s general manager Roberto Matus. At the event, the InvestChile director explained to chamber members the new agency’s road map and how the new national FDI promotion and attraction strategy will be implemented.

On Wednesday Álvarez met with representatives of the Official Chilean-Spanish Chamber of Commerce (Camacoes), headed by its president José María Castillero. At the meeting, held in InvestChile’s offices, the opportunities that Chile offers to Spanish businesspeople were discussed. Spain accounts for almost 10% of FDI inflows to the country since 2009.

Finally, on Thursday Álvarez met with the Chilean-British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham) at a business lunch organized by the chamber’s president, Leslie Hemery, during which occasions for future collaboration between InvestChile and the chamber were discussed to develop investment promotion activities in the United Kingdom as well as opportunities for British companies in Chile.
