The meeting took place during the recent “Trade Winds-Latin America” mission which brought executives and businesspeople from over 100 US companies to Chile.

InvestChile Director Carlos Álvarez met with US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets, Arun Kumar, during the visit to Chile of the “Trade Winds-Latin America” mission in which executives and businesspeople from over 100 US companies, from 23 different states, toured Latin America to explore new business and investment opportunities.

During the meeting, the two authorities talked about the new services offered by the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, business opportunities in key sectors of the Chilean economy and options for future collaboration in both Chile and the United States.

US companies have committed over US$29,000 million to Chile and the United States is Chile’s principal source of foreign investment, accounting for 25.8% of the total inflow. The US is, moreover, the fifth most important destination for overseas investment by Chilean companies which invested US$8,527 million there between 1990 and 2015.
