For close to an hour, the director of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (APIE), Vicente Mira, met with Takashi Ito, the representative in Chile of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), an institution whose mission is to contribute to the development of economies around the world.
The purpose of the meeting was to exchange ideas and discuss possible joint efforts to foster Japanese investment in Chile, with a particular emphasis on fields that are important for both economies such as energy, the environment and disaster risk reduction.
Japan is Chile’s largest Asian source of foreign investment, accounting for an inflow of over US$3,797 million between 2009 and 2013.
