Anuga is the world´s leading food fair for the retail trade and the food service and catering market. With more than 280,000 m² of exhibition area, the event covers the principal global trends and business opportunities in the sector.

The fair takes place each two years and, in 2015, brought together some 160,000 visitors from 192 countries.

The first Anuga took place in 1919 in the German city of Stuttgart as part of a national meeting organized by the sector’s business associations. Within a few years, the scale of the fair had grown to 200 exhibitors, all of them local, and its success meant that it became an annual event held in different German cities.

The first Anuga in Cologne was in 1924, with 340 exhibitors and some 40,000 visitors, and this city has since been the official venue for the event.
