InvestChile Director Karla Flores’s intense international agenda for the coming weeks includes visits to Brazil, Italy, France and Spain.
Ms. Flores made the first stop on the tour in Sao Paulo, where she participated in the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) meeting, co-organized by ApexBrasil. The event brought South America’s main investment promotion agencies (IPAs) together to exchange ideas and foster collaboration on sustainability and infrastructure for regional integration.
From Brazil, Director Flores will fly to Rome for the Wednesday, October 30th opening of a roadshow featuring activities co-organized with the General Confederation of Italian Industry, Confindustria, and InvestChile Investment Commissioner Italy, Francisca Müller.
As part of her agenda, Director Flores will join the Chilean Ambassador to Italy, Ennio Vivaldi, in a discussion entitled “Chile: Perspectives and investment opportunities,” where over 40 representatives of local companies and associations are expected to participate. She will also meet with Minister Mauro Battocchi, Director General of Country Promotion at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as with representatives of ICE, an agency that promotes the international expansion of local companies.
Director Flores will then travel to Genoa, where she will be one of the keynote speakers at the “Hydrogen: Opportunities for Italian companies in Latin America” meeting, focusing on green hydrogen.
The tour will continue in Paris, where InvestChile Director Karla Flores will attend the annual meeting of the OECD Investment Committee, which brings together the world’s leading FDI promotion agencies. She and InvestChile Investment Commissioner France, Cristián Sagal, will also meet with local companies.
Finally, Ms. Flores will visit Madrid to participate in the “Chile: Economic perspectives and investment opportunities” breakfast, co-organized by the Chile-Spain Foundation, the Chilean Embassy in Spain and Ontier.
Director Karla Flores remarked, “This tour allows us to achieve two very complementary objectives. On the one hand, we will accompany our investment commissioners in Europe to meetings and seminars to present the opportunities Chile offers and get to know companies already operating or looking to set up operations in Chile. On the other hand, we will engage in high-value dialogue with other international investment promotion agencies interested in the InvestChile experience, from which we can also glean best practices.” She concluded, “An agency like ours has to be able to carry out its promotional work, remain up-to-date on policies and instruments that enable us to generate value for our economy, and make a concrete contribution to the development of the country and its inhabitants.”
